“I started practicing yoga in my 20’s. A close friend invited me to a yoga class at a fitness centre. I was looking for a good workout and something that would be great cross-training for running, which was my physical activity of choice at the time. The teachers inspired me and introduced me to the concept that practicing yoga was a great way to keep my joints and body healthy enough to continue running for years to come.
I loved yoga instantaneously.
I had no idea how my life would change. What started only as a physical practice, soon became the getaway to discovering my true yoga practice. We can define yoga in so many different ways. To me, yoga is about connection to my breath, my body and my thoughts. It’s a connection to the consciousness and through consciousness we learn how to coincide with the universe – to be love, see everything as love and treat everyone with love.
I found a whole lot more that I couldn’t have told you I needed … self-acceptance, coping skills for anxiety, a more powerful voice and a general attitude of mindfulness, unexpected nature of life feel rhythmic and even exciting.
I am inspired to pay forward what was given to me and take nothing for granted”
